George Nelson: Architect, Writer, Designer, Teacher
I was approached about creating an animation for the McNay Art Museum a few months ago and was really excited by the subject matter and creative openness the project promised. The 1950's Modernism aesthetic of George Nelson and his time period provided a lot of opportunities for graphical playfullness. I worked heavily with musician Matt Bryan and created some storyboards that would follow closely the rhythm and feeling of jazz music. Using the provided McNay images of George Nelson's fun and forward thinking work, I had a great time creating this project and definitely couldn't have done it without the music.

Radcliffe Bailey: Memory as Medicine
This is my second motion graphic project for the McNay, this time focusing on Atlanta-based artist Radcliffe Bailey. A contemporary artist who works in a wide variety of mediums and scales, Bailey's work might be best described as having an almost cathartic focus on history, family and ancestry. This animation struck a very different tone then anything I had worked on before. Rather then requiring anything kinetic, Bailey's art asked for contemplation and space. Working with the McNay, we developed the idea of dimensionalizing his work into a 3D space and taking the viewer into it through the use of parallax movement.
