"Legends of the Samura! Brothers" (Trailer) - Written/Directed by Andrew Alden Miller I
Andrew Alden Miller I was working on this trailer about two dedicated, if not slightly twisted, brothers who set out to cleanse a crooked city using their ingrained sense of samurai ethics and their sharpened swords. He asked for my help with a couple of visual effects. They're only onscreen for a brief time, so don't blink or you'll miss them:
1. During the televised sequence in which a number of journalists interrogate a crooked politician, I created some subtle scan-lines and aliasing to sell the "old television" look to match the 1950's B&W TV the brothers had in their home. I also added an on-screen graphic to the news report.
2. Samurais vs Bikers: In this stand-off sequence, I created a quick burst of blood that shoots out of the Biker's stump after a sword removes his arm, as well as some nasty puddles on the ground.
